90's in Seattle!

It's the first day in Seattle that might hit 90! Everyone is buzzing about their weekend. So, what am I going to do today? I'm taking the family to Alki Beach with some friends. We'll throw the football and frisbee around, enjoy the sunshine, and eat some good food.

I asked Zoodango where I should eat in Alki, and it told me that I would most enjoy Salty's on Alki. I guess Zoodango knows my user preferences since I have over 30 "I likes".

To all the Seattlelites, today's forecast will be lots of sun and lots of pale legs. After the weekend, lots of rain and lots of sun burnt legs.

Where I'm taking my wife for Mother's Day!

I decided to take my wife to the Calcutta Grill at the Newcastle Golf Country Club for Mother's Day brunch. I used Zoodango to figure out where's a good place. Zoodango calculated that my wife and I would enjoy this spot!

Wow, I had to pull some strings to get us a reservation. I guess everyone wants to thank their wives for Mother's Day.

This place is going to be awesome. We're leaving in 30 minutes. I know my wife will really enjoy it. We will eat, drink, and then hit a few puts on the green. My wife always wanted to teach my two girls how to golf. Well, today will be a good start.

Can't wait to see the views from this restaurant. Literally, you can see the Seattle and Bellevue downtown skylines, and full views of Lake Washington! Scott Oki definitely knows how to run a golf country club!

A restaurant owner's problem with Yelp

I was talking to a restaurant owner about their problem with Yelp. He told me that 70% of the reviews are negative, but he explained to me that people "yelpers" tend to write more negative & sarcastic reviews because the reviewers are trying to one up each other in their rhetoric. He also explained it doesn't make sense to rate a place a 1 star when a single person rated it a 1 star. How about all the other people who actually like it.

Overall, I think Yelp has it's pros and cons. I can definitely understand the frustration of the restaurant owner. Most of the reviews on Yelp seem to be more about the personality of the reviewer instead of the personality of the restaurant. Well, I'm not sure you can completely avoid this. This is the reason that Zoodango actually doesn't use the typical 1-5 star review system at it's current form. We want to show you first the total number of people who "like it" and you can also read quick comments about the restaurant. I personally like to see all the types of people who say that they would recommend a place. If 100 people from diverse backgrounds say it's a good place, then I probably would agree with them.

Correlation of Eating Out and Gaining Weight

Is there a correlation of eating out and gaining weight. Well, in New York, the chain restaurants are required to list the calories per item. When I eat out at restaurants, I can tell the ingredients are more fatty and buttery than our cooking at home. In fact, I think some of the highest calories come from the gourmet restaurants, but how can you resist. So do you live to eat or eat to live? For me, it's definitely a combination!
