There are thousands and thousands of successful entrepreneurs in the business world today. Their passion and risk-taking spirit is the fuel behind our local and national economy. The small-medium sized business owner is to be recognized and applauded.
When people hear about my stint on "The Apprentice," they seem to be way more interested about my thoughts on business compared to my previous life as a regular, hard-working, asian-american immigrant who had a couple "lucky" breaks in life. It's funny what television can do, but that's a whole another topic of it’s own.
I want to re-emphasize the word "lucky" because many business folks try to take 100% credit for 100% of their successes. This is bull. We often fall into the trap of thinking that we can achieve everything on our own, but come on, let's set our ego aside and admit that we all need help. This is what life's about. History taught us the barter/trade game. Our economy was founded on the sharing of specialized services and products.......no one can do it all by themselves.
This leads me to what it means to be an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur focuses on a specific market and gives 100% blood, sweat, and tears to serving that market. A successful entrepreneur understands that he/she cannot be all things to all people. Focus, focus, focus.
An entrepreneur thinks with his/her gut, makes quick decisions, and unleashes a fiery passion for their business. These traits are not learned through school or textbooks, but rather, the action of making many mistakes and successes through a process called trial and error. You have to learn to be wrong to learn how to be right. It’s a process…there’s no such thing as a silver bullet. Remember silver bullets are for werewolves……do werewolves exist?
I watch "The Apprentice" religiously, and I signed up for Zoodango after hearing about it on the show previews. I currently attend Mr. Trump's alma mater, the Wharton School... can't wait until the season premiere tonight!
