What is Reality?

Posted on Thu, Mar 15, 2007, at 11:03 PM

Reality Bites! How many of you remember that movie based in Seattle with Ethan Hawke and the cute little brunette....shoot, I forgot her name.

I'm not sure if reality bites, but it sure can. I watch myself on television every Sunday night. I see the good, bad, and ugly. Everything is not exactly as it seems on the show, but it's more accurate than not accurate. It's very easy to come up with reasons on what parts are not accurate.......but I gotta check my pulse now and then.......because it's too easy to be critical and point out the fallacies only.

Have you ever recorded yourself on a tape recorder or camcorder....then watched it, and said to yourself "oh, that can't be me!" Well, maybe it really is you. What is reality? Is it the self image that we have of ourselves or should we look through the lenses of another person. If you are married, ask your spouse what is the most annoying thing you do. Be prepared though....I don't want any marriages breaking up.

What is reality? One day, I'll tell the whole story of my journey on "The Apprentice". Some of you may have heard bits and pieces. I kept a 150 page journal during the whole show. One day, I may share it. Reality can be very interesting.....

Hi James, just wanted to congratulate you on your win as PM this past week (episode 9). I was pretty eager to see you step up to the plate, and even more excited to see how you will lead Arrow next week. It's really great to have you on the show. I appreciate the fact that you speak your mind, but yet, know when to listen as well (good EQ skills!). Please keep me informed on when you have another speaking or social event. I would love to meet with you in person. Thanks!

I just watched today's show and hopped on the internet to tell you that you did and AWESOME job James!! I felt really proud. Anyways, the "energy" they keep talking about on the show has to be coming from you...b/c that's the James we grew up with!! Haha... Anyways, keep up the good work and good luck!!!!!!!!!

Hi James - Gosh, I feel like I have a special connection to you on the Apprentice because I'm Korean-American, but tons of people must feel that way!! I actually grew up in Germany and came to California was I was 10, and I guess a nice thing is that as much as I loved my childhood in Germany, discrimination was probably worse for me there than here. It's amazing what life has had to offer since then, good and bad. Thank you for being a true inspiration. In researching you I discovered Zoodango tonight... this is a really, really great venture, and I'm really looking forward to taking full advantage of it. Great job on episode 11, and I hope you win!!

James way to represent. You definitely have a unique skill set, and I'm sure it will show in the final stretch of the show.

Going back to Minnie Hsieh's comment about William Hung,

Isn't it funny how Asians can be especially sensitive when they see a fellow Asian represent?

Example: I remember when Jin started to get fame from winning freestyle battles at 106 and Park. A lot of Asians resented the fact that he represented us in the hip hop scene.

Yes I understand, he made some racially insensitive remarks, he was stupid, but he had to walk the thin line of representing us as a racial minority group, catering to the hip hop market, while carrying the resentments of many people of his own race.

That's not a easy line to walk for any businessman, especially when the business is to sell an image through representing a minority group using the lens of pop culture.

The bottom line is, there's a difference between not respecting William Hung and not respecting Jin. Through seeing James, ordinary people will begin to understand that skill level--not race--is the key factor.

Only then will the media not pay any attention to future William Hung's.

James, way to go. You and Stefani did great. I did have you and one other person to be in the final mix. Unfortunately, not for you, that person was eliminated. In some ways this is almost like watching the NCAA with the final four. it's been fun watching you. I lived in Seattle for a few years so when I saw you were from Seattle, I said, okay that's the dude. There is also a connection in that we both know a mutual friend. Keep walking the walk

Very good presentation during tonight's episode, James. Even through the tiny window through which NBC decides to portray you, I can see your determination and resolve show through. Would love to read the journal one day.

Hi James,

Congratulations on making it as one of the remaining four. You are a force to be reckoned with. Keep on keepin' on.

James,

After last night there is no doubt you are the front runner. It was like you were the teacher's pet in the Board room. It's yours to win, James. Keep having fun and thinking BIG! Go get 'em.

Jimmy Huen on Mon, Apr 09, 2007, 11:25 PM

James,

You based on this entire season, you should be one of the remaining final two unless something disastrous happens during next week's episode. Best of luck to you, I've been blogging about it here.
