Correlation of Eating Out and Gaining Weight

Is there a correlation of eating out and gaining weight. Well, in New York, the chain restaurants are required to list the calories per item. When I eat out at restaurants, I can tell the ingredients are more fatty and buttery than our cooking at home. In fact, I think some of the highest calories come from the gourmet restaurants, but how can you resist. So do you live to eat or eat to live? For me, it's definitely a combination!

Yeah, well, not everyone can afford to eat whatever they want, both financially and health-wise. Especially those that are pudgier than others. I believe that how someone looks directly states how they are as a person to an extent--if someone is fat and ugly, then it stands to reason that they don't do a very good job at taking care of themselves, let alone others. On the other hand, if someone is good to look at, it stands to reason that they take care of themselves.

Hi James -

As a frequent traveller, I have some definite comments since I eat out most of the time. Most of the "gourmet" restaurants are the most fattening while I find my best "healthy" choices in the quick-value and some fast food restaurants.

Fast food? How? If you look, you can find it. Some great restaurants for healthy eating are Bob Evans, Wendys, Chipotles, Boston Market and Noodle&Co. A lot of the quick-casual restaurants i.e. Fridays, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday and O'Charlies offer plenty of healthy alternatives.

You gotta balance it out. I typically don't eat out when I"m at home.

However, to Ilya's comments - you can't judge a book by it's cover. Just a person is good to look at, it does not mean they take care of themselves. They may be blessed with a healthy metabolism and are actually killing themselves. I know one person, for example, that smokes heavily and drinks even heavier. He is definitely one of the "beautiful people" but is definitely not doing himself any favors with the level of alcohol and smoking. He's also a real piece of work in dealing with other people.

On the other hand, I know several women that are definitely overweight. They are clean, treat people with respect and dress very stylishly for their body style. Are they part of the beautiful people? No. Do they take care of themselves? Yep. They are at the gym several times a week and doing their best to stay as healthy as they can. Are they people I would much rather be around because of the way they treat others? You betcha.

My major favourite is eating and I was live to eat. I always enjoy eating out & frequently try out all the newly opened restaurant. Of course, the consequences of eating too much is gaining weight. So, after a heavy meal, I always need to put more efforts in work out. At least, it's balancing.
