About My Job...
As chief software architect of Zoodango, I'm pretty much responsible for most of our hardware and software infrastructure, and our core technology and software development. This includes everything from writing Ruby On Rails code to configuring network routing to unpacking servers and screwing them into racks. It's quite fun to oversee and get one's hands dirty over the entire end-to-end process. One finds it like a craft that one can take pride in, rather than existence as a cog in a machine. Our CEO might be on the Apprentice, but I think it's the chief engineer who really runs the show at Zoodango!
At the same time, I'm pursuing graduate studies at internationally-known theological school Regent College up in Vancouver, Canada, doing research in the philosophy and ethics of technology. It makes for some long commutes, but it's crucial for us engineers and technology companies to truly understand the social, ethical, and even spiritual implications of what we're doing, and to make wise decisions on how best to use technology in our world.
