About My Job...
I work for an organization that does the type of work i've been wanting to do for the past 10 years. I can't believe God has allowed me to actually begin.
In order to work here, I have to develop my own prayer and financial partners to support me, but I only had 10% raised. But, I felt like the time was right, and that God was helping me understand I could trust that God was behind this. So, I packed my bags and flew out to LAX, not even knowing where I would stay that night. (fortunately, my boss had something set up).
anyway, i showed up, and the next day, my boss and I got a call that a couple months ago, one of our board members had contacted a foundation, and a couple days ago, that foundation had agreed to give $25,000 toward my support/salary. I was completely floored.
I still can't believe it.
I've only been here for two weeks, but today I realized, this is exactly where I'm supposed to be.
I can't tell you what the place is called (at least for now), but I can tell you what they hope to do. The org focuses on a certain country in Asia that everyone thinks is closed for business, but isn't. There are a few brave souls toughing it out there right now, and the officials in that country are actually approaching them with requests for more projects along those lines. Like soy milk production for the kids in a local orphanage, or bread for the neighborhood children, etc. My org wants to help people in North America realize there are opportunities to help alleviate the suffering of the people in this country and get people and resources out there.
The flip side of what we do is to make sure that those who manage the projects on the field have the support they need. This includes accounting and compliance checks for donor reports, audits, etc., to make sure that they can focus on helping people. Too many people who work on behalf of the people in this country are working overtime to help meet their needs. The least we could do is help present their story to those on the outside, so they can focus on their work.
My work will focus more on the raising awareness half. Talk to me if you are interested in contributing your time, money, talents or life to help bring hope to the people in this unnamed country in Asia.
