Open Zoovites Rock!

Posted on Fri, Aug 31, 2007, at 03:26 AM (2 comments)

So today I posted and attended my first open Zoovite and it was really cool!

I made it public that I was going to be at Vivace, a local Seattle coffee shop, between 10 and 12 this morning and one of my friends/acquaintances actually showed up! It was super exciting because truthfully, I didn't expect anyone to actually come.

The guy that actually showed ended up helping me out a lot with this video project that I'm working on and now might even write and produce some of the videos.

It's amazing how only a simple cup of coffee can really pay off.

Be Nice.

Hey Everyone. Be nice.

I can't believe that amount of people out there that don't understand how the concept of simply being nice will improve their business immensely.

I was dining at a restaurant the other day, I won't say which one, but the wait person was just so drab that it made the whole experience terrible. If they don't want to be there, then niether do I. Employees at the bottom levels of service businesses are the people who set the tone for the customer experience, and are vital to a business' success.

Starbucks is a perfect example of a business with outstanding "customer contact" employees that make you want to keep going back and back. Think about it. If you were to walk into a Starbucks and was continually greeted by an uninspired worker, it would totally change your perception of what Starbucks is... you may not even go back again!

Not just the employees fault. Owners set the tone for the entire company so, if they are uninspired, then their staff will be too. Also, the owner needs to train their employees correctly. If I were a business owner I would absolutely not tolerate unhappy employees. If they don't want to be there then I wouldn't make them stay.

$300 for Jeans?

I go to the University of Washington and it seems to me that almost every girl, and now almost every guy, has a pair of expensive designer jeans. How do college students afford these $200-$400 jeans?

I simply cannot believe that people pay $300 for a pair of jeans... even when they can't afford them. Instead of going to Nordstrom to buy a pair of Sevens why can't you go somewhere like Banana Republic, a high quality store as well, but with jeans only priced at $80?

I'm not saying that I'm perfect, but people are way too caught up in image, and don't think about practicality.

Sure, maybe college students are making that kind of money at their waitressing job, but I thought the idea of a job during college was to pay tuition and save for the future, not rack up credit card debt.

What do other people think about these outrageously priced jeans?

What Women Want

So I'm not an expert in the field of women, but I do think I know the key to a successful date, and it comes in one phrase... don't be an idiot!

Guys, you want a first date to go well? then just be polite and intelligent, make her talk about herself, and don't be egotistical. There are so many magazine articles written about what women really want and all the stuff you need to do on a first date, but all we really need to do guys, is bring it back to the basics. It's way too often that I hear or see guys performing badly at dinner where it gives them absolutely no shot at performing later.

I was enjoying a delicious bowl of clam chowder the other week at Duke's Chowder House on Alki when the most obnoxious guy walked in. Him and his date sat at the bar and the entire time I did not hear the woman speak even once expcept for maybe a couple of mhm's. This next thing I'm going to say may sound like a woman speaking but, the guy thought he was such hot stuff and all he was was an egotistical idiot, talking about his business and how successful he is!

For a successful date, just be yourself... unless you're an idiot.
